Youth division of the German United Services Trade Union (ver.di) in the Stuttgart district: Solidarity with Workers on Strike in Greece

Δημοσιεύτηκε στις

Dear colleagues in Greece,

The working class is under immense pressure: rising costs of living that outpace our wages, economic threats from the capitalist class in the form of job cuts and relocation, and political agendas that slash public welfare spending while finding endless funds for military budgets.

Our fight for higher wages is not about persuasive arguments or appeals to fairness. Friedrich Engels aptly described the relationship between employers and employees: “The workman gives as much, the Capitalist gives as little, as the nature of the bargain will admit. This is a very peculiar sort of fairness.” These words, written in 1881, remain true today.

The reality is simple: higher wages and a better future can only be achieved through the power of collective action—through strikes. For every increase in our wages, their profits shrink, and they are well aware of this. We stand firmly by your side in this struggle and extend special solidarity to the working youth, who represent the future of the labor movement.

The youth division of the German United Services Trade Union (ver.di) in the Stuttgart district proudly supports your efforts and wishes you great success with the general strike on November 20!
