In view of a fresh day of struggle by the Greek proletariat, the Unitary Confederation of Workers of Venezuela (CUTV), the National Front for the Struggle of the Working Class (FNLCT) and other social and political organizations of the Venezuelan working class, express our solidarity with Greek workers and their class-based trade union movement expressed in the All Workers Militant Front of Greece (PAME), on the occasion of the general strike taking place on February 28 throughout Greece under the slogan:
THEIR PROFITS vs OUR LIVES.
This new general strike of the Greek working class is taking place two years after the train accident in Tempe that left 57 people dead, mostly young students, due to the lack of investment in maintenance and safety measures. This is a widespread situation that has caused the loss of many lives, especially of workers, both in Greece and in the rest of the capitalist countries, including Venezuela.
As PAME states, this strike in Greece is part of the struggle of the workers of the world against policies that sacrifice people’s lives for the profits of business leaders, therefore Venezuelan workers and their class organizations identify with this massive protest action of the Greek proletariat.
Consequently, and in response to the request for solidarity from the class-based trade union movement in Greece, we decided to hold a picket with representatives of the CUTV, FNLCT and other social and political organizations of the Venezuelan working class, at the Greek Embassy on Thursday, February 27, to repudiate the criminal behavior of submission to capital by the Greek government and so that the class brothers and sisters of that nation know of our solidarity and kinship.
Dear class brothers of Greece, we wish you success in the general strike with the conviction that if we workers fight together and with a consistent plan, we will defeat the offensive of capital against our rights and against our very existence.
Long live the working class of Greece!
Long live proletarian internationalism!
Long live PAME!
