The position of the class trade union movement of Greece at the Referendum

Dear comrades,

We forward to you 13 of the measures of the two drafts of anti workers-anti people’s measures, prepared by the European Union-IMF-ECB the one, and the other prepared by the Greek Government of SYRIZA. In the referendum of July 5, the Greek Government calls the people to reject ONLY the Memorandum of the EU-IMF-ECB. This way, the Government of SYRIZA wants to promote its own anti workers’ proposal, to be accepted by the people as an alternative.

The class trade union movement of Greece, PAME, rejects both options

We call the working class to demand its own rights

We do not reject ONLY the one memorandum, so as to accept another

We call the workers to put in the ballot their own demands

And not the marked cards of the SYRIZA Government

Compare the two proposals

The EU-IMF-ECB Memorandum:

  1. Retirement age raised at 67 for all workers, imposed by 2022

  2. Raising pensioners’ contributions for healthcare (which will be taken from their pensions) from 4% to 6%

  3. Raising employees’ contributions for healthcare (which will be taken from their wages) from 4% to 5% *THE SAME POSITION

  4. Cuts in the State Budget for Pensions: 0.5% of the GDP for 2015, 1% of the GDP for 2016 *THE SAME POSITION

  5. Early retirement “fine” raised by 10% *THE SAME POSITION

  6. Reduce of “Labour cost” in Public Sector since 1/1/2016 *THE SAME POSITION

  7. Continue the imposition of the so called “Solidarity Tax” *THE SAME POSITION

  8. Minimum Wage to be formed through Memorandum legislation *THE SAME POSITION

  9. Continue collecting the “Unified Estate Tax”-ENFIA till 2016 *THE SAME POSITION

  10. Raise the incomes through VAT at 1% of the GDP

  11. VAT raised at 23% for canned and packed foods, 13% for basic Foods, electricity and Hotels, 6% for Medicines, Books, 23% for everything else *THE SAME POSITION

  12. Taxation to Shipowners to be imposed

  13. Privatizations of Ports, Airports, infrastructure, Stare Properties *THE SAME POSITION

  4. Cuts in the State Budget for Pensions: 0.5% of the GDP for 2015, 1% of the GDP for 2016 *THE SAME POSITION

  5. Early retirement “fine” raised by 10% *THE SAME POSITION

NO to the Referendum will be translated to YES for the SYRIZA Memorandum

We reject both options

The working class must raise its own demands

We vote with our own demands

Not with the “marked cards” of the pro-EU political forces
