PAME translates the Press Release of the National Federation of Public Hospital Doctors of Greece (OENGE), a member of PAME,on the developments with the Covid-19 and on the recent call of the Minister of Health to applaud the doctors
The doctors of the public healthcare system, the local doctors, the residents, the attending physicians of the hospitals, the health centers and the Regional Health Centers are anxiously watching the developments on the Covid-19 pandemic in our country.
In these difficult times, we all do our best. We strive to take care of our patients with the few means available, in conditions of tragic understaffingand intensification.
Sirs of the government,
We do not want you to applaud us because we are trying to do our job.
We want you to take all the necessary measures so that we can do our job properly.
So that we can treat our patients who will be infected byCovid-19 and will need hospitalization, but in the same time treat those who have health problems that are not related to the Covid-19 epidemic.
We appeal again, even at the last moment, instead of telling people to applaud us, to accept to meet us.
We appeal even at the last moment:
- Recruit the necessary medical staff immediately so that all the Intensive Care Units can be functional.
- Ensure that all necessary personal protective equipment is provided to healthcare workers so that we will not be ill ourselves and be able to continue offering our services.
- Do not let any patient’s life to be lost when they could be saved
