LAB Basque trade union shows its solidarity with the 24 Greek steel workers condemned from 21 to 23 months in prison because of they took part in the historical strike in HELLINKI HALIVOURGIA factory.
The nine-month long struggle of the steel workers was a struggle of the whole working class in the world. This was a common struggle. And it gave a message to the working people around Europe, but also the rest of the world, wherever the rights of the workers are threatened by the laws and the practices of capitalist oppression.
From LAB we think it is unacceptable the state repression steel workers are suffering due to their commitment in the struggle for their work conditions and rights, their militant example, their solidarity. It wants to intimidate those who will even think to fight and claim their rights. We consider it is an unacceptable court decision sentenced 24 steelworkers, revealing that Justice is not blind, but the guardian of the business interests that live off the exploitation of workers.
Many similar decisions have been taken throughout the history of the labour movement proving that the bourgeoisie and its state have created several mechanisms to repress workers’ struggles and all those who fight for their rights. We had suffered the same in the Basque Country many times.
Because of that, we support you and we reject these new unfair and unjustified court decision. In addition, we want to show you the solidarity of the Basque working class, the whole of our trade union, and especially steel workers.

MENSAJE DE SOLIDARIDAD DESDE LAB, CENTRAL SINDICAL VASCA, A LOS TRABAJADORES Y TRABAJADORAS DEL SECTOR DEL ACERO EN GRECIA.
LAB, central sindical vasca, muestra su solidaridad con los 24 trabajadores del acero griegos condenados 21-23 meses en prisión debido a que tomaron parte en la huelga histórica en la fábrica HELLINKI HALIVOURGIA.
Los nueve meses de lucha de los trabajadores y las trabajadoras del acero fueron la lucha de toda la clase obrera del mundo, expresión de una lucha común. Con la que no solo se envió un mensaje a las personas que trabajan en toda Europa, sino que al resto del mundo, allá donde los derechos de los trabajadores y las trabajadoras se vean amenazadas por las leyes y las prácticas de la opresión capitalista.
Desde LAB calificamos de inaceptable la represión que están sufriendo los trabajadores y las trabajadoras del acero debido a su compromiso en la lucha por sus derechos y condiciones de trabajo, su ejemplo militante, su solidaridad. Esta represión tiene como objeto intimidar a todos aquellos que se les ocurra luchar y reclamar sus derechos.
Consideramos que la decisión judicial de condenar a los 24 trabajadores del acero es inaceptable, revelando que la justicia no es ciega, sino el guardián de los intereses de las empresas que viven de la explotación de los trabajadores y las trabajadoras.
Muchas decisiones similares se han tomado a lo largo de la historia del movimiento obrero, demostrando que la burguesía y su Estado han creado varios mecanismos para reprimir las luchas de los trabajadores y las trabajadoras y todos aquellos que luchan por sus derechos. En el País Vasco hemos sufrido lo mismo muchas veces.
En consecuencia, os mostramos nuestro apoyo y rechazamos esta injustificada e injusta decisión judicial. Además, queremos mostrar la solidaridad de la clase trabajadora vasca, la del conjunto de nuestra organización sindical, y en especial de los trabajadores y trabajadores del sector metalúrgico.
