UITBB (BUILDING TUI)

The UITBB Secretariat on behalf of millions of construction and wood workers on all continents conveys militant class based greetings to PAME and its members and salutes their decision to stage a nationwide campaign with marches and meetings to denounce mass unemployment and to demand jobs with rights, protection for the unemployed and income for every citizen allowing to live in dignified conditions.

Unemployment is one of the strongest weapons used by capital and big business against the working class, dividing workers, generating xenophobia and racism, trying to demoralize and demobilize the working people. All over Europe, because of the austerity politics imposed by TROIKA, our industrial branches – construction and building materials industries – are particularly affected resulting in millions of our fellow workers, women and men, being out of job.

Our Secretariat expresses full solidarity to PAME and its initiative, which will lead up to the organization of a general strike at the end of November.

More than ever, workers and their unions need to demonstrate class based internationalist solidarity, and in this spirit the UITBB secretariat calls on all UITBB affiliates and supporter unions to express through various means their solidarity with the Greek workers and their militant organization PAME.”

The International Union of Public Unions and Similar Services (TUI-PS-S)

The International Union of Public Unions and Similar Services (TUI-PS-S), the Federation World

Trade Unions (WFTU) welcomes and provides solidarity with the struggle of PAME,

unemployment and quality employment. We saw pay our solidarity to the rally to take place on November 1 next. We are sure that only positive results will fight to the Greek working class. We believe that should be a requirement, especially the European trade union movement, the end the process of criminalization of political militancy of union leaders, as is happening our comrades Akis Antonious, George Vassilakis and Petro Poundidis, whose only “crime” of that can be charged is to fight and organize the workers’

struggle for their rights. As you are aware, on the 3rd of October, International Day of Fight WFTU under the theme “Combating Unemployment and the Struggle for Decent Work”, was held in Portugal one Conference organized by the National Federation of Labor Unions in Functions Public and Social

and the WFTU on this theme involving the entire organization World, including the PAME, where

it was considered that:

“In a situation where more than 200 million workers are unemployed throughout the world; where

inequalities in income distribution and poverty are compounded in that we rich are getting richer;

where large blocks capitalists advancing militarism and promote aggression, interference and wars,

threatening world peace; in which governments service of big capital advocate enormous social

and civilizational setbacks, the role of the Movement Union of class and mass, committed to the

interests of the workers and peoples, able to organize their resistance and to intervene with just

demands and alternative proposals to the model of capitalist exploitation is increasingly crucial. “

(doc. finals of the Conference)

Therefore, there is only one way for the workers and for people from all over the World – Fight!”
