On February 28 the working class of Greece is called to a general strike and from Basque Country LAB, class oriented trade union affiliated to the World Federation of Trade Unions, sends its full solidarity and support to the Greek working class in struggle and specially to PAME union in these important moments for the working class.
In the current context of generalized crisis that we are living, the demands of the general strike are more than necessary. The non-participation of Greece in the imperialist wars, the demand for collective bargaining that implies wage increases and, in short, the improvement of the living and working conditions of the working men and women are bets that we share and from Euskal Herria we also make our own.
The current geopolitical situation imposes many different challenges. A new socioeconomic paradigm is making its way and the changes driven from below and to the left are not only urgent, but unstoppable. Therefore, the main struggle that we, the peoples and the working class, have at this moment is whether these changes go in the direction of strengthening this capitalist, patriarchal and biocidal system, or whether we begin to build a new model that puts at the center the rights of all people and all peoples and the sustainability of the planet and life as a whole.
Moreover, in the face of the increase of imperialist wars, from LAB we demand a new model of international relations based on eco-independence as a condition for existence and at the same time for a transforming horizon of the world scenario. The peoples and the working class have nothing to gain in this international warmongering logic and much to lose in this logic in which wars that generate destruction and precariousness of life prevail.
Therefore, we hope that the general strike in Greece is another demonstration of the Greek working class that, in the face of the precariousness of life, from class unionism we will continue to bet on dignity, solidarity and social justice towards those who with our work sustain the world.
Long live the struggle of the workers of the world!
Long live internationalist trade unionism!
