January 25 – National Action Day of Workers in Hotels and Tourism

36 Trade Unions of Workers in Hotels and Tourism from all over Greece have joined the initiative for National Action Day for Collective Contracts and protection of the Unemployed on Wednesday, January 25.

Specifically the Unions basic demands are

  • Restoration of Collective Contracts, which must be mandatory, as the majority of the employers of the sector, even in the cases where there is a Collective Contract they do not implement it.

  • Restoration of the National Minimum Wage in the levels it was before 2009, before it was cut by 25%

  • Unemployment benefit for all the unemployed and all seasonal workers. Immediate payment of the unemployment benefit without delays, which are caused by the understaffing of the Unemployment Agencies

 

Within this context the Unions plan main protest demonstration to the Ministry of Labour in Athens, on Wednesday, January 25, along with multiform, local protests and actions.
