Stateless nations’ class oriented trade unions LAB Basque Country, CUT, Galiza, Intersindical Canaria, Intersindical CSC and COS from Països Catalans, affiliated to the World Federation of Trade Unions, show our solidarity with PAME and Greek working class facing the attack against the right to strike and protest in Greece.
The new law defines the police as the highest authority as it assigns it an expanded and executive role. In addition to its role in enforcing the law, it undertakes duties of “interpretation of the law.” It will be able to determine the restrictions to be imposed at demonstrations rights, to invent its own, to decide in advance which public gathering will be allowed, if it is spontaneous, what restrictions will be imposed. They bring the police inside the unions, inside the demonstrations and protests.
In our opinion, the Prohibition of protests, especially in the current period, is not an isolated act, and not only will happen in Greece. For sure, in the new period that will open after the coronavirus crisis, the anti-workers measures will increase in all European countries. The European Union is negotiating the funds for one “rescue” that they don’t want to call “rescue”. This funds consequences will be reforms, cuts and new anti-wokers measures. The Troika politics that have never dissapered, will return to Europe.
For that, the Stateless Nations’ class oriented trade unions LAB Basque Country, CUT, Galiza, Intersindical Canaria, Intersindical CSC and COS from Països Catalans, affiliated to the World Federation of Trade Unions, send our solidarity to the Greek working class and especially to PAME. During months, we have stayed at home to take responsibility with the society, but now is time to take the streets and fight against anti-workers measures and to transform the reality.
