On Tuesday, October 06, on the event of the visit in Greece by NATO’s General Secretary, Unions and people’s organizations held a militant protest in the center of Athens and a demonstration in front of the Parliament.
In the rally PAME speaker noted:
“We are alert and worried about the dangerous future that the Falcons of Death are preparing. This wolfpack-alliance with the US-NATO-EU imperialist organizations that the Greek governments are participating in and supporting. Colleagues, we are alert and worried about what the NATO Secretary General brings and even more alert and worried about what will he leave with… The general secretary of a military-political machine that has been sowing death and misery around the world for 70 years…After the US Secretary of State Pompeo came and toured all over Greece, he oversaw the expansion and progress of US agreements with the Greek governments, but also the “normalization” of the situation with the Turkish bourgeoisie…Now NATO came to confirm and concretize the hidden and overt agreements that are being made. NATO also came to put its little stone in the transformation of Greece into a US-NATO-EU watchdog in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans”.
The demonstration demanded:
- Greece’s disengagement from US-NATO-EU imperialist plans.
- No change in the borders and the conditions that define them.
- No bargaining for co-management of the Aegean.
- Closure of the Souda base and other Euro-Atlantic bases.
- Let the Greek Armed Forces return now from missions abroad.
- Disengagement from NATO – EU
