The concentration camps, prisons, created by the Government will not solve the problem of refugees and migration.
Immediately after the measures announced by the new Minister of Citizen Protection, for a cleaner city center, the government rushed to announce, the establishment of 30 new detention centers throughout Greece. The black front government with the agreement or the forbearance of the parties of plutocracy and the heads of the regional councils, launches a new attack on thousands of people who struggle to survive crossing borders without documents and tries to burden them with the responsibility for all the ills of the working class , unemployment, poverty, criminality, drug trafficking.
The announcements made by Minister M. Chrisochoïdis for the persecuted or arrested either at the borders by FRONTEX or in the center of Athens, are revealing.
The fact that every day corpses of immigrants and refugees are washed up in the river Evros and the coasts of Greece, the frostbite deaths, the deaths due to hunger, hiking, do not concern the coalition government. What concerns this government is how to avoid its responsibilities, how to create false impressions about the measures taken by it and how it will unswervingly implement the European directives for capitalist profitability.
To sugar coat all these the government does not hesitate to offer supposedly jobs to unemployed people in the prefecture of Kozani or other areas, where unemployment is sky rocket high, and at the same time to deliver the custody of its “prey” to private companies that will hire workers with 200 and 300 euros wages. The government converts camps unfit to host immigrants, despite its claims, into detention centers. The truth is that it plans high-security prisons with triple barbed wires which will not keep criminals locked, but will keep these people locked, who have been chased due to poverty, misery, imperialistic brutality, whose only illegal action is that they are under arrest because they do not possess the proper documents. These are documents which, after all, can be supplied by the government itself, so these people can either continue their journey to the country they want, or can work in our country legally. However, it suits the government and the parties of plutocracy which serve it to hold innocent migrants and refugees as prisoners for 18 months and then deport them, rather than to retreat from the Schengen treaty and the Dublin II treaty they have signed
The attack on migrants and refugees is a part of the general attack on the rights of workers, locals and foreigners. The sweeping done in the center of Athens is to support the effort of mayor Kaminis and the government to ban demonstrations, to offer the city center immaculate and undefiled to the jaws of the multinationals and speculators and not to help small and medium-scale tradesmen or the local residents who perish from the antipopular policy.
We call migrants, refugees, Greek workers:
To expose the real goals of the government that serves plutocracy and monopolies, the government that implements the instructions of capitalists. With fences, the action of FRONTEX and supposedly camps, in truth prisons, peoples in despair will not stop choosing the life of refugees and economic migrants. Camps are created by the same responsible for the massive migration of Greek workers as well.
Our choice must be the release from EU, NATO, imperialist organizations, must also be the socialization of monopolies, the centrally planned economy, workers´ popular control, attack against the slave trade, black labour, prostitution, the culture that promotes narcotics.
We must punish those who are truly responsible for the huge social problems that plunge locals and foreign workers in fear and insecurity.
PAME supports the struggle of Greeks, Migrants and Refugees for:
The abortion of the governmental plans to create concentration camps-prisons for immigrants.
The creation of open centers, with humane and decent state hospitality areas at the entry points of migrants – refugees, to be cared for – to be fed, housed, and to be given legal assistance and interpretation, until the necessary travel documents are given to them, so that they will continue their journey .
Disobedience to the Schengen Treaty and the Regulations of the EU Dublin II.
The provision of special care by state agencies for juvenile refugees and migrants, mothers and children, victims of human trafficking nets.
The granting of necessary travel documents for all, so that they will be able to go to their destination countries.
