On the occasion of the World Day against Child Labor, the Executive Secretariat of PAME addresses to the class oriented trade unions all over the world.

Approximately 218 million children worldwide are forced to work; more than 10 million children who work are under 10 years old. 22,000 children are killed every year because of occupational accidents. 1.8 million children are victims of sexual exploitation. 80,000 children work in our country. Aside from the official numbers, more tragic figures are certainly hidden. It is known that child labor is a derivative of the capitalist system and in times of capitalist crisis child labor and unemployment are increased.

The European Union by its anti-emigration policy, with the support of the N.D. government, together with the parties PASOK , LAOS and the tolerance of SYN party, leave thousands of immigrants’ children uneducated, being helpless and victims of several exploitation nets and are forced to work in very strenuous jobs.

We call upon the trade unions, workers to intensity the struggle against the system and policies that give birth and nourish the exploitation of the working class and its children. To struggle for the free and equal access of children to education, welfare, health. To struggle so that all the children’s daily needs for food, clothes and residence will be covered.

The struggle for the rights of children is a matter of the class oriented trade union movement. It is a case of PAME. This struggle is a part of our daily struggle for all the problems that the working class faces.
