On Wednesday, August 26 the Hotel-Tourism Workers’ Union of Athens and the National Union of Musicians held a protest at the Ministry of Labor of Greece to complain about the big delays in the payment of the compensations to the workers who were left unemployed due to the pandemic. The Unions also demanded the immediate imposition of Health and Safety regulations to the workplaces that still operate.

Their main demands were

  • Immediate payment of the “special purpose” compensation.
  • Immediate cessation of workers’ payments for electricity, water etc bills and also to banks and tax authorities.
  • Immediate measures to protect workers’ health. Free test for all employees.
  • Free access to public transport.
  • To include all employees in the sector in the support mechanism, without terms and conditions.
