300 hundred women, who worked as cleaners in the Ministry of Finance until they were fired 2 years ago, demonstrated yesterday against the decision of the Government of SYRIZA, which rejected their demand to return to their jobs.
For a long time before the elections in Greece the party of SYRIZA promised that all injustices, created by the anti workers’ policy would be corrected through his rise to Government. One of the most media-covered groups of these promises that also were the foreground in SYRIZA’s pre-election rallies were the same women, even with articles calling “the rubber glove rebellion”. SYRIZA had clearly stated before the elections that they would all return to their posts. 3 months after SYRIZA became Government, 300 hundred of the cleaners rallied again, as the Government of SYRIZA announced that their reinstatement would be “unconstitutional” and only offered them part time positions, with half the salary!
The cleaners, with the support of the class trade unions organised a series of actions to demonstrate their just demand, however their meeting with the Minister offered them only “words of sympathy, but no solution”. As they said the difference between the old and the new government is that the old government did not promise them anything, whereas the Government of SYRIZA recognizes the injustice and still does not give them back their jobs.
The workers must reach conclusions that there is no savior that will solve their problems. Despite any populist tactics and pre election promises, the bourgeois parties always state clearly their commitment to capitalist growth and competitiveness, to the strengthening of the imperialist European Union. Those commitments cannot accept workers demands for better lives, for full time, steady jobs. The example of the cleaners is only one of the many, where the workers were deceived and given false hopes by the Government of SYRIZA. We call the workers to strengthen their struggle against the big Capital, against the political parties that serve business interests and the imperialist European Union. The workers must fight for their rights against all anti workers governments.
