Saturday 14th of March, Action Day Against Unpaid Work

Δημοσιεύτηκε στις

The Trade Unions of Workers in Private Health of Athens and Piraeus call for massive action to STOP the phenomenon workers of all professions in small or big Private Healthcare facilities, such as EUROMEDICA not getting paid for months, or even a year. In some cases they are given a small part of the accrued and they are constantly under blackmail, which leads the workers to misery.

The main cause of this phenomenon is the stated goal of the employers to reduce the so called “labour costs”. To abolish the Collective Contracts, the intensification of working conditions and reducing “labour costs” is the only way for competitiveness and new profits for the employers.

Today the employers have on their side all the labour legislation. Flexible working conditions, the hiring of apprentices without cost, state funding etc. So they want to get rid of all the workers who have labour rights without cost, without having to pay for compensations, they want to force the workers to resign!

This reality is indisputable! Those are the reasons for unpaid work.

Even in the workplaces where the workers are getting paid, the employers use the situation with unpaid workers so as to blackmail the workers to lower their demands and work with wage cuts under miserable conditions. The employers say “accept working with less, because in other places they do not get paid at all”

They have turned the right of working for a wage into luxury.

The struggle against unpaid work is a struggle of all workers
