PAME Greece – Solidarity with the Royal Mail Workers’ Strike

Δημοσιεύτηκε στις

PAME, which represents the class unions of Greece, expresses its solidarity with the workers of the Royal Mail multinational postal service in Britain who are starting strike action on 26 August.

Royal Mail workers voted 97.6% in favour of strike action for wage increases on 26 and 31 August and 8-9 September. The employer’s attitude of intimidations and slander led workers to vote again with 98.7% in favour of escalating the strike action they had already planned. More than 80,000 workers out of a total of 115,000 participated in the vote.

The workers are denouncing that while the company is talking about losses and proposing below-inflation increases, it is at the same time reporting profits of £758 million and dividends of £400 million to shareholders.

Postal workers and workers in a number of industries have been on the front line, especially during the pandemic period. They have shown that it is the workers who move society, who produce this enormous wealth but which is reaped by a small minority.

We do not accept living in poverty and misery!

Now Pay Rise!

We support the just demands of Royal Mail workers and their strike action starting on 26 August!
