From May 2011 until December 2011 the employees of the oil company Ozen Munai Gaz in the city of Zhanaozen, Kazakhstan went on strike demanding better pay and working conditions.
On December 16th 2011, Kazakhstani armed forces attacked the strikers. During the attack, the police opened fire and killed 16 people, while at least 60 were injured.
Several trade unionists were arrested and sentenced to long imprisonment.
From the start PAME denounced the government of Kazakhstan for the massacre of the strikers in the city of Zhanaozen.
During the period 2012 – 2013, we conducted many rallies of protest at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Athens, demanding the release of imprisoned trade unionists.

Demand the immediate release of the imprisoned trade unionists who used to work for the oil company in the city of Zhanaozen, Kazakhstan and were on strike.

Denounce the government of Kazakhstan for the intensity of authoritarianism and repression against the strike movement of workers

Express our solidarity with the workers of Kazakhstan who fight for better pay and working conditions as well as their trade union freedoms
