PAME Condemns the Attack of Turkish Police Against Workers and Residents of the Gebze Region

Δημοσιεύτηκε στις

On Tuesday, July 18, in the Gebze district of Turkey, police forces attacked residents who were defending their homes by demolition, after a command of the Governor of the region.

In the police attack on the residents were used even water pressure pumps, while many workers, who were defending the houses, were injured and 16 were arrested. Among them are members of local trade unions, as well as members of the Union Nakliyat Is.

The demolition of the houses was pushed despite court decisions that have justified the residents to remain in the poor.

PAME denounces the ruthless action of the Government that attacks poor workers. We denounce the arrest of the residents, among them members of Unions, and we demand their immediate release.
