PAME expresses its solidarity to the workers and the trade union movement of Kazakhstan, to ZHANARTU, on the 4 year anniversary of Zhanaozen massacre.

On December 16 is the 4 year anniversary since the bloody attack against the struggle of the Kazakhstani workers of Oil Company at the city Zhanaozen of Kazakhstan. An attack by the Government of Kazakhstan to break the 7month strike struggle of the workers. The result was 16 workers killed and 60 injured.

PAME always based on the principles of Internationalism and Solidarity had supported in many ways and forms the struggle of the workers of Kazakhstan. PAME had denounced the authoritarianism and repression of the Government of Kazakhstan. With the WFTU we moved in a series of initiatives to put pressure to the Government of Kazakhstan for the immediate release of the imprisoned trade unionists who used to work for the oil company and to protect the workers trade union rights. On the other hand we do not forget the dirty role of ITUC, a trade union organization only by name-puppet of the multinationals-, which had stood against the workers’ strike.

Today, 4 years later, experience shows that the Governments, in spite of their “labels” (Left, Right, Liberal, or Socialdemocratic) along with the ideological offensive against the workers, they escalate the oppression, the attack against trade union rights and freedoms.
