The Growth of Capitalism is covered with the blood of the workers
On the new employers’ crime in Turkey
PAME expresses the solidarity of the class labor movement of Greece to workers and trade unions in Turkey, who just a few months after the crime in the mines of Somma, mourn another 10 dead colleagues. Their death is the result of efforts by local contractors to increase their profits by not taking the necessary safety measures.
The new crime victims were 10 builders in Istanbul, who died on Saturday, September 6 when the elevator which they used in building a skyscraper fell from the 32nd floor. According to the complaints of workers, the elevator has had problems, but the developers did not stop work to fix it, so as not to delay the project.
The developments in Turkey and the daily crimes against the working class in a country where capitalism is in phase of growth, are an important lesson for the workers of Europe and Greece. In Greece capitalists seek sacrifices from workers to get out of the crisis, while workers in Turkey are killed in order to accelerate growth. The working class either in crisis or in growth of capitalism will be sacrificed on the altar of profit and competition of monopolies.
PAME expresses its condolences to the families of the dead and their colleagues. It denounces the arrests of protesters who participated in demonstrations against the new employer’s crime and calls for their immediate release.
We call on the working class to strengthen the movement and its organizations, demanding immediate implementation and improvement of health and safety regulations by forming and activating fighting Health and Safety Committees in the workplaces.
No more workers’ blood for the profits of the capitalists
