The National Strike of workers in Commerce took place yesterday, Sunday, July 16, against the abolition of Sunday as a day off.

The main slogan was “Sunday Belongs to the Workers, We will not become Slaves of the Multinationals”. The workers’ unions had the support of associations of self-employed shop owners, who in many cities joined the rallies of the workers, against the monopolies.

Picket lines were held in many cities all over Greece and the main strike demonstration was organized in Athens, where the demonstration went through the historical center of the city and the big markets.

The Commerce Strike is to be followed by the Strike of workers in Tourism-Hotels on July 20
