Nakliyat-İş Union expresses its militant solidarity with the Piraeus Regional Union and all workers taking part in the 24-hour citywide strike on Friday, February 6. This strike is a just
and necessary response to policies that sacrifice workers’ lives, rights, and livelihoods for the profits of capital and the wars of the exploiters.
From deadly workplace “accidents” and the absence of basic health and safety measures, to the dangerous concentration of fuel tanks next to working-class neighborhoods, workers in Piraeus are forced to pay with their lives for employer profit. At the same time, governments aligned with the EU, NATO, and US imperialist plans drag peoples into war fronts, while demanding that workers accept poverty, insecurity, and repression as “normality.”
Nakliyat-İş stands with the striking workers who say enough is enough. We support the struggle for dignified work and life, against the war economy, against the use of ports and infrastructure for military purposes, and against all policies that gamble human lives for profit.
The February 6 strike sends a clear message:
Workers will not die for profits. Workers will not work for war.
International solidarity is our weapon.
Your struggle is our struggle.
