The class unions of Patras, the Regional Trade Union Center, The Peace Committee and the City Council, with the people of the city demonstrated on Monday, October 17, against the arrival of a NATO warship at the port of the city.

The demonstrators stated

“The government of the New Democracy and the other bourgeois parties of pro-NATO bear very heavy responsibilities because their policies involve the country and our people deeper and deeper in the dangerous Euro-Atlantic plans.

They are targeting our people, who are living first-hand the cost of inflation, the high cost of energy, who are paying with their sweat for the expensive armaments on behalf of the US and NATO projects, condemning us to be deprived of even the basic necessities of survival. As an anti-war-anti-imperialist movement we continue with the flags of the peoples on the right side of history and we escalate our struggle. We say “NATO out of the port of Patras – out of our country the NATO Powers. Neither land nor water to the murderers of the peoples”.

The demonstration reached the NATO warship were they through red paint and wrote NATO GO HOME
