The Union of Hotel Workers of Athens held a series of protest at the Hotels demanding a new collective contract. The Union protested the specific Hotels, owned by the leadership of the Hoteliers Association to pressure for pay rise with new Collective Contract.

During the workers protest Police forces and secret police agents appeared to intimidate the workers, but met immediate condemnation and response by the Union.
