The employers of the Metal Sector, the last years, have been using the crisis to avoid any discussion for Collective Contracts. They use the poverty and unemployment to abolish any rights we had achieved.
In these tactics they have as ally the Greek Government, which reformed working relations legislation on Collective Contracts, leaving workers without any legal protection against the employers. Today the Greek Government of SYRIZA comes to worsen the situation for the workers by imposing the so called “best European Practices”, claiming falsely, that this will be positive development for the workers. But our unions have experience of such lies and illusions of the Government, of the tactics and maneuvers of the employers.
Against these developments our unions in metal, shipyards and woodworkers are organizing their struggle. With massive meetings of the workers, general assemblies in the workplaces, work stoppages, we move forward with the fight for the signing of Collective Contracts.
In this direction, the metalworkers in the shipyards, with the Unions of Metalworkers of Athens, of Shipyards of Greece and Shipyards Woodoworkers organize Strike on March 1st demanding
Signing of Collective Contracts by reinstating the last Collective Agreement signed on 2009-2010
The Agreement to be submitted to the Government, which must impose this Agreement as mandatory for the whole sector in Greece
