A delegation of ZHANARTU (member of WFTU) from Kazakhstan, visited today Feb. 25 offices of PAME.

The delegation of ZHANARTU, informed us about the criminalization of trade union action by the government of Kazakhstan, by prohibiting union activities, demonstrations, strikes and blocking the creation of trade unions. In order to weaken the labour movement, and have no obstacles to progress in privatization.

In the working class of Kazakhstan the role of EU has been revealed. EU on the one hand throws crocodile tears for the “human rights” and on the other supports the government, as in this country there are many multinational companies.

It has been also uncovered the role of ITUC (International Trade Union Confederation). ITUC was against the 7 months workers’ strike in the multinational oil city of Zhanaozen in Kazakhstan in 2011, where security forces attacked the strikers and killed 16 people, while at least 60 injured.

Trade unionists of Kazakhstan thanked PAME for the solidarity that has expressed for the immediate release of imprisoned trade unionists of the strike in Zhanaozen, Kazakhstan and who are imprisoned since 2011.

As PAME, we stated that we will continue to inform the workers of our country about the struggles of ZHANARTU, the class oriented trade union movement within the ranks of the WFTU will strengthen their solidarity with the workers of Kazakhstan.
