Stateless nations’ class oriented trade unions LAB Basque Country, CUT, Galiza, Intersindical Canaria, Intersindical CSC and COS from Països Catalans, affiliated to the World Federation of Trade Unions, show its solidarity with PAME and LARCO metal-workers in Greece facing the strike called for 21st May.
The 1200 workers of LARCO, the largest nickel company in Greece, are going on a new strike on May 21st, trying to keep the factory open and keep the workers in their jobs.
The workers in struggle are calling for the following demands;
No dismissal, cancellation of wage cuts and recruitment of all LARCO workers from the contractors without any segregation.
Withdraw the law that privatizes LARCO. Stop privatization and put the factory and all the mines in full operation.
The Greek state, which is the main owner-shareholder of the company, with a law that voted in February, is proceeding with the privatization of the company while taking advantage of the pandemic, proceeded with a series of anti-workers’ measures and is preparing a new attack with dismissals, wage cuts, etc.
This statement signatories trade unions support all strikers demands, and we call the Greek government to stop its privatization and workers rights cut attempt. Is a government responsibility guarantee people’s decent life conditions, but unfortunately the governments have more interest to rescue banks and big companies than working class and popular classes.
For that, is necessary a new social and economic model, which will put the right to decent life in the middle and which will in at the service of the working class and popular classes necessities. As a class oriented trade union, we will continue in our struggle to build alternatives, confronting the capitalism system’s economic avarice.
