With a great, militant demonstration, with songs and slogans, in the streets of Durban, on Saturday, October 8, concluded successfully the 17th World Trade Union Congress in South Africa.
On Friday, October 7, the elections for President, Presidential Council and Finance Committee were held. George Perros, Chairman of PAME, was elected as WFTU Vice President. Also, on Friday afternoon, last day of the Congress works, the Congress unanimously adopted the Report of 2011-2016 and the Action Platform of 2016-2020.
On Saturday morning, October 8, COSATU revealed a monument dedicated to the working class history and struggles, at the end of a rally, real expression of internationalism and class solidarity, with workers’ songs of South African unions accompanying the international delegations. The delegation of PAME took part in the rally with PAME’s banners next to the banners of trade unions from all over the world
