Workers, unions, federations, trade centres, student associations, farmers, self-employed, women, the popular movement of Greece that responded to the call of PAME and protests in Athens today, November 1st, 2014 we express our sympathy and solidarity with our class brothers in Turkey who suffer one more tragedy.
18 workers, our brothers and sisters in the fight for wages are missing under tons of earth and water because of the new employer’s crime that took place in a mine in the province of Karaman Turkey.
According to the complaints of workers, after the previous employer’s crime in the mines of Soma with 300 dead, the Government of Turkey allegedly took measures in favour of the miners. The government legislated increases in salaries and security measures. The employers, however, showed who has the real power in capitalism. On the salary increases, they replied by abolishing the free transport and catering for the workers. With intensification of work and delaying of the wages. With security measures only in paper, and mines that are open graves.
The protection of life of the worker, improving their standard of living and working conditions can not be realised by governments serving competitiveness and are bowing to corporate profitability. Only a massive, militant labor movement, class oriented can win real increases in salaries, health and safety measures to protect the lives and physical integrity of the workers.
In these difficult times, our hearts and our thoughts are with the families and colleagues of the missing. From the floor of the National Rally of PAME we send our class solidarity with the working class of Turkey and pledge that we will stand by them in our common fight against employers’ terrorism and class exploitation.
