Yesterday, January 24, 2013 after the 8-day strike of the workers in the public transport, the government used a part of its antilabour legislation under which the workers unless they return to work, they will be arrested (authoritarian law). PAME calls upon the trade unions, the workers, all the popular strata to militantly participate in the demonstration on Saturday January 26, at 11a.m. Omonoia square, condemning the governmental authoritarianism; a demonstration of solidarity and support to the struggle of workers in public transport.
PAME calls the trade unions and the popular strata to decisively condemn the authoritarian law and to demand its removal, expressing their support and solidarity with the workers in the underground system and all the workers in the public transport. This is a struggle that concerns all the workers.
The “iron heel” of the bourgeois state (laws, repressive mechanisms, justice, media), through which the three-party government tries to crush every resistance to its brutal policy, to support the profits and the privileges of the capitalists, must be crushed by the unified resistance and struggle of the working class and all the workers.
Many times in the past decisions like this were crushed under the massive, militant struggle of the workers and their solidarity. The example of the workers in dockyards, who made dozens of strikes after the imposition of the authoritarian law, shows the path.
New waves of antipopular measures, of antilabour and authoritarian policies are coming and the labour – popular movement must be determined and well-prepared to counterattack them.
A well-organized and planned struggle is needed for ruptures and overthrow, so that the people will permanently get rid of the yoke of the monopolies and the forces that serve them.
The just demands of the workers must be satisfied now!
The authoritarian law must be taken back now!
NO TO THE PRIVATIZATION OF THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT
NO TO THEIR OPERATION IN FAVOUR OF THE MULTINATIONALS!
CHEAP, SAFE, RELIABLE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION MEANS!
