PAME, that represents the class unions of Greece, expresses its solidarity with the thousands of workers in the USA from various sectors who are going on massive, militant strikes demanding their self-evident right to wage increases through Collective Agreements.
Thousands of California hotel workers, AMAZON drivers, screenwriters, have been on multi-day strike action for weeks. While from tonight actors and performance workers are going on strike and 120,000 workers of the multinational UPS have called a strike that will begin on August 1 if the multinational does not accept the workers’ demands.
A huge weapon in the struggle of all these and many other sectors is the giant wave of solidarity, the massive action of the workers themselves, who in many cases are imposing militant decisions against the logic of inaction and waiting.
A solidarity that highlights the justice of their demands, as the majority of workers, especially young people and immigrants, are experiencing a modern working Dark Age, with starvation wages and no rights. While at the same time they face an union busting, repression and racism.
The mass strike wave in the USA is a resounding response to those who for years sought to present strike action as an “outdated” form of struggle, and wanted to turn the unions into mechanisms for enforcing “social dialogues”, i.e. class cooperation, the subordination of workers to the aspirations of the big business groups.
Against these logics, against the aspirations of the bosses, the governments and the mechanisms that serve them, even in the metropolis of Capitalism, the working class is shouting WITHOUT US NOTHING MOVES!
We stand with the workers in all sectors who are struggling, we give our hand to those who stand up, with organization and solidarity we can win!
Solidarity with the great strike struggles of workers in the U.S.! We stand with you!
