On the occasion of October 17th, International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, WFTU in coordination with PAME and the Workers Committee of the industrial area of Koropi (near Athens) organize an event for the children of the immigrant workers and the unemployed.

Poverty, unemployment, wretchedness are elements inherent in the capitalist system. Billions of people all around the world live under the official poverty line. The capitalists’ crisis forces to the side more and more parts of the population, increasing the numbers of the poverty stricken.

The world class oriented trade union movement, WFTU, the class trade union movement in our country, PAME, that is an active member of WFTU, mark, with their struggles, the policy and the representatives of the capital. They struggle for the abolition of exploitation of man by man.

With this event, we want to show our solidarity to the unemployed and the workers of an industrial area, that day by day experience more poverty, more pressure because of the antilabor measures adopted by the government to save the industrialists.

We want to give a warm smile and an hour of relaxation to the children that are forced to limit their basic needs, seeing their parents’ empty wallets.

We also want to transfer the optimistic message that the working class can overthrow the policy, which is enemy of its interests.

The working class can and must organize in its trade unions, fight and build another society and economy that will plan production based on the modern needs of the workers and not of the capitalists.

In this event that will take place on Sunday 16/10/2011, 18:00 at the Cultural Center of Koropi, we call the workers, the unemployed, the youth and the immigrants with their wives and children.

We need children’s smiles-we fight for the present and the future of our children. For the overthrow of the policy that gives birth to poverty and exploitation.
