On Saturday, October 8, in a store of the big commerce chain Jumbo, in the center of Athens, 3 workers were seriously injured after elevator fall.
While the 3 workers were being transferred to the Hospital, the store continued working as if nothing had happened.
Immediately the Commerce Workers’ Union of Athens and other local unionists intervened and demanded the store to close and the authorities to move with inspection for the causes of the serious accident. At the same time the Union demanded meeting with the management, which was nowhere to be found.
The Union forced the authorities to close the store, while customers had already emptied it after being informed about the situation.
Also, the Union visited the injured workers and expressed its support to them and their families.
