Creta Farm food industry is a ghetto of cruel exploitation

PAME denounces the employers of Creta Farm. Exploitation, oppression, intimidation, terrorism and violation of workers rights and the collective agreements between employers and workers are developed in work places. The antilabor policy applied by the governments of ND (neoliberals) and PASOK (sosialdemocrats), the European Union and the uncontrolled action of the employers are unprecedented. In Creta Farm, where almost 1000 workers are occupied in Athens and Rethimno, the situation of the workers is unacceptable and they are forced to work like modern slaves.

Creta Farm steals workers for many years at least since 1998; by not paying overtime work to the workers that are occupied for more than 10 hours per day. Creta Farm does not pay the marriage benefit to the 200 Indian workers that employs, although the have all the appropriate papers needed by the labour legislation. Creta Farm does not apply the terms of the Collective Agreements. That’s the way that the Creta Farm and other companies multiply their profit.

Company’s profits were raised 26.9% for the year 2007 compared to those of the 2006. The profits were amount 15.1 million € in 2007, compared to 2006 that the profits were 11.9 million €.

PAME will not stay inactive against the employers. PAME will make every effort to break the terrorism in work places, to stop the violation of labour rights. PAME will help in every possible way the Greek and immigrant workers to join their trade unions and assert their rights that have been stolen by the employers.

We Demand:

  • To apply the collective agreement immediately.

  • To pay legally the overtime work and in a retroactive way.

  • To pay the marriage benefit to all the Indian immigrant workers.

  • To take measures for health and safety conditions in the work places.
