Workers Must Respond to the Dangerous Imperialist Plans

PAME denounces the reports presented recently to the European Parliament on the “implementation of the Common Foreign and Security Policy” (CFSP) and the “Common Security and Defense Policy”(CSDP) of the EU.

The reports focus on the preparation of military and other measures so that capitalists can best defend their interests, foretelling dangerous developments for the people.

The reports suggest the creation of new structures and mechanisms –aiming to createa “reliable foreign policy body” of the imperialist union. They foresee a generous increase in funds through the operation of a European Defense Fund, a strengthening of research into the development of military technology and the use of artificial intelligence, robotics and more, for military purposes, promoting the militarization of spaceand strengthening the cooperation with NATO etc. The aim is to strengthen EU military autonomy on the background of escalating imperialist rivalries, and “the ability to deploy military forces in the periphery of EU”as it is typically written.

Great are the responsibilities of the governments and parties that have voted and implemented all the EU’s directions for strengthening and intensifying intimidation against the peoples. Enormous responsibility also have theforces of ETUC who are beautifying the EU, hiding its barbaric antiworkers’ role, silencing the repression and the abolishment of democratic and trade union rights and freedoms in the EU.

The Reports go a step further by talking about measures to be taken against “terrorism” when they refer to protests and demonstrations. This shows in the most revealing way that their real enemy is the people. The promotion and implementation of those kinds of policies is linked to state repression and intimidations against the people and the trade union movement.

Workers and unions should condemn these dangerous plans in practice and intensify the struggle, inform workers and organize the fight against the plans of the imperialist EU.

Workers should respond to the dangerous plans of the imperialists by escalating unified campaigns against the multinational companies, the antiworkers’ governments and the imperialist EU.
