Solidarity with the workers and trade unions who are rising up
All Workers Militant Front (PAME), the trade unions of Greece, condemn the escalation of state repression in the United States, the killings and violence carried out by federal repressive mechanisms, the criminals of ICE, against workers, migrants and their families in Minnesota. The horrific images of children as young as five years old being arrested, of people being executed by police gunfire in the middle of the street, are part of an organized operation by the US government to terrorize entire neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces. These images expose the true face of the bourgeois state, the state of monopolies, violence, and a legality that serves profits. We salute the mass strike actions and militant mobilizations on Friday, January 23, organized by trade unions in Minnesota, with the participation of tens of thousands of workers who stand up to terror, demanding an end to raids, the persecution of migrant workers and their families, and ICE raids in schools and workplaces. We express our support for the unions and workers who, through a general strike, demonstrations, and acts of disobedience, show the path of organization and collective struggle. We condemn the murder on Saturday, January 24, by the criminals of ICE of Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a nurse at a veterans’ hospital and a union member. Such crimes are not “isolated incidents.” They are the result of a policy that seeks to impose silence and fear, to break resistance, to criminalize protest, and to slander the people as an “enemy” whenever they raise their heads.
