National Strike at Carrefour Super Markets

The workers at Carrefour-Marinopoulos Super Markets went on Strike on December 1st against layoffs and wage cuts.

The company has announced shutting down of a number of its stores and attempts to impose individual contracts, with lower wages and plans a series of layoffs. The Trade Unions of Workers in Commerce of Athens, Thessaloniki and other cities of Greece, members of PAME, organized picket lines in front of Carrefour stores and held a demonstration at the company’s headquarters in Athens.

At the same time, the trade unions called for massive participation in the National General Strike of December 3rd.
