Free health care for all the people, mass recruitment of permanent staff, wage increases, tenure of contract workers!

These just demands of health workers and all the people were called yesterday outside the Ministry of Health during the National strike of Doctors and Healthcare personel in Public Hospital.

The strike started with a militant action by the Federation of Unions of Hospital Doctors of Greece (OENGE) with a symbolic occupation of the ministry hf Healthcare, which they “decorated” with the giant banner of the Federation.

They pointed out that this action is a response to the government’s policy, which leaves no room for solutions to the acute problems concerning the health of patients, the scientific and professional dignity of doctors.

As OENGE explains, “hospital doctors and health workers have been on frozen wages, flexible working conditions and inhumane working conditions for 15 years, with endless on-call duties that are getting worse and worse. Patients are 15 years on ranches, with endless waiting lists, non-stop payments, while the Government’s responses are lies and cynicism!”

Massive demonstrations took place in all major Greek cities.
