Long lasting struggles against wage cuts and lay offs
The sparkle of the strike in the factory of the Steel industry HALIVOURGIA that lasts for 8 months becomes a fire that lights up one place after the other. Factories, offices, etc following the example of the strikers steelworkers, are on many day strikes. Workers from every side of Greece, with the support of PAME and the class oriented trade unions reject the blackmails and the threats of the employers for wage cuts and lay offs, and they demand Collective Contracts, based on workers´ needs.
Call Centre PHONE MARKETING-Athens: 90 days of strike
In this company, the workers, most of whom are women, rejected the employer’s demand to work only one day per week, with wage cuts. With the support of the class oriented trade union of Workers in Telecommunications (SETIP), through General Assemblies, where they discuss and decide their way of action, they have been on strike for almost 90 days! Their struggle for full time jobs, with full rights, with no wage cuts, has already forced the employer to change position. The workers say in their resolution:
“During those 85 days we have discovered our strength. It comes through our organisation. We are united like a fist and that is why they can not bend us. We know that before, when we were alone, the employer could bend us, could manipulate us. No more!
…we call for the support of all workers´ organisations. Our struggle concerns all and our victory will be victory of all working class”
