International Meeting of WFTU Commerce Workers’ Unions

 On Wednesday, June 26, a Commerce workers’ Trade union meeting of the WFTU was hosted in Athens.

The subject of the meeting was to organize the fight of workers in the multinationals of Carrefour, LIDL, Leroy Merlin etc. The meeting, organized after initiative of the Trade Federation of CGT Commerce from France, was also attended by representatives of trade unions from Spain, Cyprus, the Czech Republic and PAME from Greece. Trade unions decided to take new steps to coordinate their action and develop joint initiatives in the coming period.

On Thursday, June 27th, a delegation from the CGT Commerce Federation of France visited the Piraeus Regional Union, where they had a meeting with the President of the Regional Union and the Piraeus Commerce Workers’ Union. At the meeting, the CGT Commerce delegation, the largest Federation of France, briefed on the developments in France and the action of their Federation, as well as their decision a few weeks ago to join the WFTU.
