On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), PAME expresses once again the solidarity and support of the class movement in the fight of the disabled, the chronically ill and their families for Public-Free Healthcare, Welfare, life with rights.
Particularly this year, as every working-class family is confronted with the new anti-social security attack of the ND government, the main victims will be the disabled and their families from the poorer populations, as the cutbacks to Welfare, Healthcare, Special Care are also in the frontline. An example of the planned barbaric cuts (the 3rd Memorandum of Understanding signed by the previous SYRIZA government and is currently being implemented by the ND) is the budget for 2020 which reduces spending on disability benefits by 173 million and a total of 400 million cuts in Welfare.
Against these developments, the class movement already responded with large rallies on November 30 all over Greece, demanding a single public and universal social security for all.
PAME will continue to support the disabled movement’s actions and initiatives and its rightful demands
