The trial of the criminal, neo-Nazi organization Golden Dawn in Greece is completed after almost 6 years and the court decision is expected for October 7th, 2020.
The 69 accused, including the leader of Golden Dawn, are accused of directing a criminal organization. The criminal activity of Golden Dawn stems from its ideology, since behind the crimes committed by its cadres and members are the Nazi ideology and organization, racism but also connections with parts of the state mechanisms and with strong business interests.
The murder of the militant singer Pavlos Fyssas, the murderous attack against PAME trade unionists and against Egyptian fishermen, and dozens of other Golden Dawn criminal attacks are on trial at the same time.
The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 105 million workers in 132 countries all over the world, demands the conviction of Golden Dawn as a criminal organization of the descendants of the fascists and their local collaborators during the Second World War in Greece. After the initiative we took in January 2020, when the European department of the WFTU Legal Committee attended the trial of Golden Dawn, in order to express its support to the victims of the Nazi attacks against workers, migrants and the people of Greece by submitting a relevant resolution to the court, we follow the developments and inform the international scene through the WFTU Legal Committee.
The world class-oriented workers’ movement, the WFTU, with its millions of members and friends around the globe, will continue and intensify our struggle to isolate neo-Nazism, racism, xenophobia and discriminations, which are growing in the territory of anti-labor policy of the EU and capitalist governments.
