The Union of Workers in Telecom-IT of Athens -SETIP met on Friday, June 12 with an online meeting with the CGT TELECOMS 13 Union of Marseilles. The meeting focused on the current situation in big multinationals in France and Greece (Orange, TELEPERFORMANCE, Vodafone, OTE) and the employer’s attack on workers’ rights. This attack was much more intensified in both countries during the pandemic, with a series of anti-workers measures that were imposed in favor of the monopolies. It is common also in both countries that teleworking has been adopted by employers during the pandemic.
The discussion confirmed the need for the organization and coordination of workers’ action against multinationals and their policies. It is important to take initiatives, strengthen common struggle and class internationalist solidarity against the plans of the business groups, the governments and their forces within the trade union movement.
