Dear Comrades,

On behalf of PAME, which represents the class trade union movement of Greece, we express our condolences for the death of our comrade, Sukomal Sen, a leading cadre of the class trade union movement of India.

Comrade Sukomal Sen served the cause of the working class for decades and became a leader of the trade union movement of his country and internationally. He served as General Secretary of All India State Government Employees Federation from 1982 until 2008 and as Vice President of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, CITU. At the same time, for many years he served the international trade union movement and struggled for the strengthening of the class-oriented trade unions, of the World Federation of Trade Unions, from the position of the General Secretary of the TUI PS&A of WFTU. Simultaneously, he leaves a major contribution with his many books on the history of the Indian trade union movement, as well as of the international trade union movement and the history of the WFTU.

PAME had the honor to work with him, in many cases within the lines of WFTU. We also had the opportunity to welcome him in Athens during the 16th Congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions.

Comrade Sen, til the end of his life, remained a soldier in the struggle of the working class for the abolition of exploitation, for the rights of the workers.
