Success of the Strike at “Geniki Anakiklosi” – Cancelation of 17 layoffs

Δημοσιεύτηκε στις

After a hard, many-day strike the workers at Geniki Anakiklosi (General Recycling) succeeded in canceling the layoffs of 17 workers.

The strike that started almost 3 weeks ago faced the attacks of the employer, the riot police, the arrests of many workers and trade unionists. On the other hand, with the support of PAME and the class trade unions, the people and the youth of the city of Giannena (Northern-East Greece) the strikers did not submit to the threats, the intimidations and the use of violence.

The success of the strike at Geniki Anakiklosi is a positive message for the escalation of the struggle against layoffs, wage cuts and the offensive against workers’ rights. The strike of Geniki Anakiklosi proves that even within such conditions, class struggle based on organization and class solidarity can bring positive results.
