The ETUC has issued a press release under the title “No new Berlin walls!” Whereas the press release is about the issue of migrants, the ETUC uses this as an excuse to express its anti communism, which is a characteristic of all the reactionary mechanisms of the European Union. With expressions copied copied by the Cold War textbooks, like “Iron Curtain”, for the former socialist countries, the ETUC presents the imperialist European Union as the guardian of freedom and justice.

The European Union cultivates the phenomena of xenophobia, racism and gives support to the anti-migrant policies of the Governments, as it is the EU that has legislated the barbaric regulations of Dublin and uses the suppressive mechanisms of FRONTEX. In the Mediterranean it drowns, every day, hundreds of migrants, while in Greece it finances migrants’ concentration camps.

The EU, within the imperialist competitions, participated and participates, if not instigated, wars and conflicts that uprooted hundreds of thousands from their homes. The so called philanthropy that follows after is clear hypocrisy.

The European Union supported and supports the fascist government of Kiev, which has raised a death wall in Eastern Ukraine, but there, the ETUC, as a loyal pet of its bosses, did not say a word. Nor did they say a word against the wall of shame that Israel has raised in Palestine.

In the European Union, more than half of the member states have governments of far right or even fascist parties. In Greece today there is a coalition government among the socialdemocratic SYRIZA and the racist, far right party of ANEL.

The contribution of the socialist, workers’ states of Eastern Europe in the labour and peoples’ gains of the workers of Europe is indisputable. No slander can erase the internationalist contribution of Socialism in the struggle against Fascism-Nazism, with the millions dead Soviet citizens and the resistance movements of Europe, of whom the van guard in France, Italy, Greece and elsewhere where the communists.

Fascism, reaction, the attack against the workers’ and people’s rights go hand –in-hand with anti communism. The anti communist poison of the ETUC is a part of the escalation of the anti workers’ attack and must receive militant response.
