The All Workers Militant Front (PAME) that represents the class trade union movement of Greece expresses its solidarity with the working class and the people of Belgium in view of the general strike of December 15.
The workers of Belgium have been in protests the last months against the anti-labor government planning and specifically against the:
• Increase of the retirement age to 67 years
• Price increases in bus fares and train fares, oil etc.
• Increased costs for Education
• Reductions in public spending on health and social benefits
It is characteristic that corresponding measures are promoted in all EU countries. Corresponding measures promoted in all countries, by both the so-called “neoliberal” and the supposed “left” governments. European workers need to understand that regardless of the excuses the political parties that serve the multinationals, find every time, they will always demand the workers to be sacrificed for the competitiveness and profitability of the monopolies. Their common goal is the complete abolition of the Public-Free Health and Education, reductions in wages and pensions, the elimination of Collective Agreements, the abolition of full-time, permanent and steady jobs, the cancellation of all the gains and rights of the workers across Europe, with greater victims women, young workers and migrants. The profitability of the European monopolies, the capitalist development, passes through the impoverishment of the workers. In this direction the capitalists also utilize those forces in the trade union movement that cultivate “class collaboration” and transform the unions of class struggle organizations, into bureaucratic mechanisms that serve the capitalists.
Under present conditions the workers need massive, militant trade unions, with class orientation, which will organize and prepare the working class for a long, hard struggle, in conflict with the monopolies and the political parties of capital, with the aim of abolishing capitalist exploitation, for a society in which workers will reap the wealth they produce.
PAME supports the workers of Belgium in their just struggle and promises them that the class trade union movement of Greece will be at their side.
