Thousands of public-sector workers across Greece sent a resounding message through a 24-hour strike on the 13th of May against the anti-people policies of the New Democracy government, as well as against government-aligned trade unionism.
In Athens, a mass rally was held, followed by a march to Parliament, where public-sector workers demonstrated their determination to fight for substantial increases in their salaries, the restoration of their 13th and 14th salaries, mass recruitment with stable daily working hours, and the safeguarding of their rights. They expressed their complete opposition to the abolition of permanent employment status for public workers and, more broadly, to the reactionary changes being planned by the government through the revision of the Constitution.
