Solidarity with the workers and trade unions who are rising up

All Workers Militant Front (PAME), the trade unions of Greece, condemn the escalation of state repression in the United States, the killings and violence carried out by federal repressive mechanisms, the criminals of ICE, against workers, migrants and their families in Minnesota. The horrific images of children as young as five years old being arrested, of people being executed by police gunfire in the middle of the street, are part of an organized operation by the US government to terrorize entire neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces. These images expose the true face of the bourgeois state, the state of monopolies, violence, and a legality that serves profits. We salute the mass strike actions and militant mobilizations on Friday, January 23, organized by trade unions in Minnesota, with the participation of tens of thousands of workers who stand up to terror, demanding an end to raids, the persecution of migrant workers and their families, and ICE raids in schools and workplaces. We express our support for the unions and workers who, through a general strike, demonstrations, and acts of disobedience, show the path of organization and collective struggle. We condemn the murder on Saturday, January 24, by the criminals of ICE of Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a nurse at a veterans’ hospital and a union member. Such crimes are not “isolated incidents.” They are the result of a policy that seeks to impose silence and fear, to break resistance, to criminalize protest, and to slander the people as an “enemy” whenever they raise their heads.

These are the “values” and the “rule of law” of the so-called strategic partner of the Greek government and the parties of Euro-Atlanticism, who present the USA as a model of “democracy” and “security.” The escalation of imperialist aggressiveness by the bourgeois state of the USA abroad, imperialist rivalries, interventions, wars, and the war economy, inevitably brings escalation at home as well: intensified repression, restrictions on rights and freedoms, the targeting of migrants and refugees, and an attack on the lives of the working class. When the people pay for imperialist war through soaring prices and poverty, and when they organize and struggle, the bourgeois state mobilizes its mechanisms to intimidate and subjugate them. PAME expresses its solidarity with the trade unions and workers of the USA. We strengthen the common struggle against repression, racism, authoritarianism, and state violence. We strengthen the fight for work and life with rights, for the protection of migrants and their families, to put a stop to state terror, and to overthrow anti-people policies.
