On behalf of the Venezuelan class-conscious workers and trade union movement, the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores de Venezuela (CUTV) and the Frente Nacional de Lucha de la Clase Trabajadora (FNLCT), we send our solidarity to the working class and the class- conscious trade union movement of Greece, which once again are rising up in struggle for better living and working conditions, confronting the aggressive capitalist adjustments being imposed in that country; In a special way, we salute the role of active vanguard played by PAME in the General Strike that with unity and courage the Greek workers are carrying out today.
The precarious living and working conditions to which the working people of Greece are subjected, are the result of the anti-popular policies developed and implemented by the current government of the New Democracy (ND) party, with the complicit silence of the declassed trade union forces.
February 28 has become an iconic date on the anniversary of the tragic train crash in Tempe, which took the lives of 57 people, a crime that remains unpunished, under the cloak of a policy that only seeks to guarantee the profits of the capitalists, even sacrificing human lives.
The mobilizations and the general strike of the Greek proletariat are more than necessary to fight for the life and welfare of the people of Greece.
From the CUTV and the FNLCT we tell you that we are with you, that we are in solidarity with your just struggle to demand substantial wage increases, guarantee by the State of free health care and hospitalization, for the strengthening of state funding for health, education, social security and to stop the shameful auctions of other people’s houses and in rejection of the participation of Greece in the imperialist wars, among other mobilizing objectives.
Greek class brothers, comrades of PAME, guided by the principle of proletarian internationalism, together with you today February 28th we raise your slogan We are fighting for our lives!
